1: Back to the Shack – Calvin Dempsey

Now, you’re probably wondering what the heck does an old camper have to do with pond hockey. Well, this just isn’t any ordinary camper, this camper has stories… many of them. This is home to none other than long time members of The Crystal Cup, The Cunning Stunts. The moment it was posted it probably caught the eyes of many. The taillights of a truck lighting up one side while the lights of the event catching the rest. Such a great angle with great colours and a feel for the history embedded in the event that often goes unnoticed. A big congrats to Calvin Dempsey and the boys on this one, and Calvin, Noel, we would love to hear the history on this camper and how long you’ve been attending the event. We believe it was 2012 or 2013, but would love for you to confirm and maybe tell a story or two for us in the comments!!!

2: Not a Good Day for a Bubble – Shaylene Carter

We couldn’t agree with more! It was definitely a cold one this time around, but fun still seemed to be had by all, even if you’re behind a bubble with limited vision and frosted eyelashes. Great shot Shaylene Carter!!

3: The Handshake – Candice Berrett

The team handshake! Despite a few tense games over the weekend, for most it was about friends and fun. After any tough game win or loss, it’s always great to see such sportsmanship.

4: Play for Trace – Tiffany Laclaire

Capturing a great shot at “Play for Trace”, named after the late, great Trace Morrell and the two U15 teams that came out to the cup this year. The teams played out a best of 3 and the Inaugural U15 Trave Morrell Heart and Hustle went to Marshall Alcock.

5: Put Me in Coach – Cody Shepherd

A sweet shot with not only Pavel Barber as his ringer, but one of the sweetest buckets we’ve ever seen. Between that tint, flames and hanging with Barber, that’s one heck of a shot Cody!!

6: Balaclava – Elizabeth Pritchard

A great solo shot of two little eyes poking through a cage covered by a balaclava. Although it was frosty, many found a way to beat the cold and still have a good time.

7: Digging In – Meesh Mazur

A great shot of the U7’s digging in as hard as they could in one of the most exciting games the Sid Davis Memorial has ever seen. Both teams played their heart out and gave it all they had. It was an amazing game to witness!!!

8: Pavel Barber Showcase – Lauralee Schonenburger

A fantastic moment was captured when our special guest set up shop behind the food vendor tent as a wind break and several gathered around to learn some sorcery. Barber was an absolute gem the entire weekend and it was a pleasure having him out.

9: Team Celebration – Dana Gunson

It’s always so awesome seeing this with teams, not only building memories, but building friendships that may last a lifetime through fun times on the pond.

10: “6-7” – Bobbi-Lee Woodward

We’re not really sure what’s going on in this photo, but we think it was maybe some flexing or perhaps praying to the sun Gods? Regardless, we had to fit 6-7 in there somewhere.

U7 Division

U7’s… What an absolute barn burner! The game was tied nearly the entire time until just the last few minutes where Walt’s Automotive snuck away with 1st and the Ice Blazers with 2nd. Great work to all.

U9 Division

Congratulations to our U9 Division 1st place team the Cheap Skates and to the 2nd place team The Griffins!!!
Great work everyone.

U11 Division

The U11 Championship was yet another great final and nail-biting at times!!! What a game. Congratulations to the MKEY Ice Dogs for coming out on top for 1st in the U11 and the Ice Hogs in 2nd. Great work everyone!!

U13 Division

The U13’s decided to move to the 4pm spot and wow what a game. Netflix and Chel turned up the heat in the second half and came away with 1st in the U13 Division while the Michigans earned 2nd. Congrats to both teams!!

U15 Division

Congratulations to the U15 Mobil 1 team for 1st Place and Bardown Bulldogs for 2nd in the U15.

Sidney Lloyd William Davis

Jul 16, 1971 – Dec 19, 2017

Sid was born in Hamilton, Ontario. He moved with his parents and brother to BC in 1979, settling in Williams Lake for most of his Hockey Career.

For all of Sid’s adult years he was involved in coaching minor hockey, first in Williams Lake, and then jumping right in when they relocated to Fort St. John. Sid touched the lives of many many children throughout BC in his coaching career. His love for the sport always shone through, as much as his love for the kids he was coaching. He loved watching them grow their skills, and catch hockey fever.

Sid was known for following their careers long after they’d left his team, reaching out with notes of encouragement or congratulations as they continued in their hockey journeys. Even Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens!!!

Please welcome the 21 teams for this years 2026 Sid Davis Memorial Youth Pond Hockey Challenge from 10am to 5pm on Charlie Lake.
