Crystal Cup - Sid Davis

Good morning!!! And welcome to the Sid Davis Memorial Youth Pond Hockey Challenge!!!

It’s gonna be a frosty one folks. Please again bundle up good. Please also check in to the big igloo upon arrival and grab your swag bags. This area will also act as yiur change tents.

On your way out to the lake or while your getting ready this morning, please read this to your littles or have the older ones read it to themselves about the man, the myth, the legend behind this beloved event. ❤️

Sidney Lloyd William Davis

Jul 16, 1971 – Dec 19, 2017

Sid was born in Hamilton, Ontario. He moved with his parents and brother to BC in 1979, settling in Williams Lake for most of his Hockey Career.

For all of Sid’s adult years he was involved in coaching minor hockey, first in Williams Lake, and then jumping right in when they relocated to Fort St. John. Sid touched the lives of many many children throughout BC in his coaching career. His love for the sport always shone through, as much as his love for the kids he was coaching. He loved watching them grow their skills, and catch hockey fever.

Sid was known for following their careers long after they’d left his team, reaching out with notes of encouragement or congratulations as they continued in their hockey journeys. Even Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens!!!

Please welcome the 21 teams for this years 2026 Sid Davis Memorial Youth Pond Hockey Challenge from 10am to 5pm on Charlie Lake.
